OLED / AMOLED
A screen type where every pixel makes its own light — deep blacks, high contrast and an option for always-on display.
In an OLED screen each pixel produces its own light, so black pixels are fully off: deep blacks, high contrast and good efficiency with dark themes. AMOLED (active-matrix OLED) is the type used in phones; makers give it brand names such as Dynamic AMOLED or Super Retina XDR. Very long static images can cause burn-in over years.
Also called: amoled, super amoled, dynamic amoled, poled
